Small brunch wedding, Arts and Letters Club

I love the Arts and Letters club on Elm Street.  We often have large weddings in the Great Hall, which (like Hart House Great Hall) is very atmospheric in a 'Harry Potter' vein.  This was a small, intimate wedding in the study, or "Lamps" room, which has Group of Seven portraits.  It was very suitable for an 'academical' couple!  Another option is the Library in the Grange at the AGO - perfect for a small wedding - with a little tea reception!

There are many stylish modern wedding venues in Toronto - the Gardiner Museum, Tech lofts, modern bars, and cool hotels.  If you are looking for wood beams and stained glass windows, however, there's Hart House, (and Vic college and UC and the Faculty Club at UofT), plus bits of Casa Loma, faux Tudor at the Old mill - and then; the Arts & Letters club, right downtown at Yonge and Elm.  We're having a wedding there tonight, for a couple of great guys from Newfoundland, and about 100 people.

Although the Great Hall can seat lots of people, you can also hold a smaller wedding for 50 or so. There's a grand piano, and a stage, and a fireplace, and original Group of 7 work scattered throughout the building and in the comfortable lounge. Call Joseph, he's great to work with.

Zombies were not invited to the wedding

We had a lovely wedding at the Arts and Letters Club on Elm Street at the end of October.  But somehow a few thousand zombies also decided to take to Yonge Street on that Saturday.  Photographer Neil Ta got this great picture of the calm couple in the midst of -- the zombie apocalypse.

Small little dinner party wedding at Le Select, and a few other smaller venues

So - a dozen people gathered at Le Select on a Tuesday for a small, intimate wedding.  The garden ('jardin') was available, and so we had the canapes, toasts and ceremony in the back, and then they had a dinner in one of the back side rooms.  It's possible to do this during the week, (weekends are often busier) and have a lovely smallish wedding. We were originally going to go over to the island, or somewhere by the water, but the weather has been pretty iffy, and in fact, this was the 34 degree day - so the shade of the canopy over the back jardin was great.  Wonderful evening.

next week - off to the Arts and Letters club, Fantasy Farm, a private wedding in Cabbagetown, Casa Loma in the conservatory, over to the Rectory cafe on Ward's, and another small family wedding upstairs at the Gladstone...  when TIFF is over, lets hope the TTC repairs are swift!
