Welcome to ElopeToronto.com!

Welcome to ElopeToronto.com! We conduct simple, meaningful, 'civil' (non-religious, non-denominational, or secular) humanist weddings in Toronto. The ceremonies are similar to a 'city hall' wedding, or one conducted by a 'Justice of the Peace". We also provide simple legal weddings for couples planning a destination wedding. Mary is licensed as a Marriage Officiant by the Registrar General of Ontario, and the Ontario Humanist Society

Summer and Fall weddings in Covid Times - Toronto and Stratford

Here we are in July, and hope everyone is well and safely vaccinated.  I've got both doses, thank goodness.  I'm still staying at the cottage in Stratford, and am not coming into Toronto much at the moment, tho we've arranged a few small weddings.  Evidently Stratford is one of the few places issuing Marriage Licenses at the moment  (!??), so some couples are zipping out here to see our pretty city, and getting married in my backyard! I live 2 blocks from the VIA station, so that's also an easy option. Theoretically, the Stratford theatre festival will also open outside in July.  We'll see!

If you're planning a summer wedding in Toronto, let me know (contact Mary at the sidebar) and I'll try to help or refer you to colleagues in the GTA.  Let's look forward to Fall with hope and health.  Mary

Postponing weddings while in Covid Lockdown

Update:

Here we are in April, with the lockdown extended til Mid May.
Old licenses appear to be good.
But we are not advising anyone to hold a wedding right now unless it is urgent.  And then the wedding should be outside, with a minimal number of people (just witnesses), and all safety precautions.  You can always contact officiants to hold dates for you later in the spring/summer, if things improve.

As of January 18, Ontario has extended the lockdown orders.

The Province has asked that people stay home, avoid outside contact, and do everything we can to minimize the spread of the virus. They advise  people postpone their weddings until things improve.  As previously, they will extend the expiry date of licenses.

The mysteries of asymptomatic transmission, the mutation of the virus, and the strain on public health is apparent to all of us. We are all waiting for the vaccine, better contact tracing and testing.

PLEASE remember  there
is no such thing as a virtual wedding. ('zoom wedding')  Legal weddings must be conducted in a face-to-face environment with all parties, including witnesses, in the same room.

Therefore, unless under special circumstances, we will be postponing weddings until the lockdown is lifted, more contact tracing is in place, and vaccines available.

Stay safe!  Stay home!  Happy planning!   Mary
